Pre-Law Advising

FOR QUESTIONS,
GUIDANCE & SUPPORT

Pre-Law Advising at CMU is designed to help students and alumni navigate every step of their journey toward careers in law, justice, and public service.

WHAT ADVISING COVERS

One-on-one advising meetings are a great place to:

  • Explore whether law school or a law-related career aligns with your goals and interests.
  • Discuss majors, minors, and courses that build skills to help you succeed.
  • Learn about internships, shadowing, and other experiential opportunities.
  • Get advice on LSAT preparation and law school admissions.
  • Review scholarship and funding options.
  • Build a personalized path and career timeline.
  • Talk through decisions about graduate programs or alternative career paths.

Students should meet for an advising appointment early in their educational journey to start planning ahead. After that, schedule appointments each semester to review progress, update goals, and stay on track.

SCHEDULE A MEETING

Book a one-on-one advising appointment, face-to-face or virtual. The system schedules in 15-minute increments — book two slots back-to-back if you need longer. If none of the times work, email and we’ll find one that does.
